Landcrash :: Sunrise/Dark

Daniel Hopkins aka Landcrash is a filmmaker and sound artist based in Staffordshire, UK. Originally from the Southwest of England. Hopkins started his career as a filmmaker graduating from Newport Film School in 1998.
During his time as a student he started to experiment with sound during his student films. This led to use of computer to compose and lead to Hopkins moving into sound editing as a career choice.
Hopkins performs music under the name of Landcrash, what can be seen as an odd name for one to choose but one that has stuck.
His latest EP ‘Sunrise/Dark’ is out on Rural Colours netlabel. The CDr edition is limited to 75 copies, and you can download the digital release from Archive.org.

It basically is a hardware IceCast2 Upstream-Client. Additionally the OggStreamer can host ansighttpd-mini-server on its own – so that a limited number of listeners can directly connect to the Livestream with just with one click on the web interface.

Plastic Jazz Orchestra :: 39°

The Plastic Jazz Orchestra was formed by Bernd Burnson in late 2006 as an ensemble electronique for modern music. Tragically Bernd Burnson passed away in summer 2007 and left behind a bunch of young people determined to create something completely different, something new in terms of musical expression.
The tracks from ’39°’, the first full album by The Plastic Jazz Orchestra, had never been compositions in their origins but handcrafted pieces of what we call music. A truly original recording.
Download it for free as MP3 or Ogg Vorbis or lossless FLAC from Headphonica netlabel.

Unglue.It: Crowd-Funding A Revolution In Libraries

Four of the country’s six largest publishers currently don’t allow libraries to lend out their e-books. And, as a result, many titles simply aren’t available electronically.
A new site hopes to change that, though, by squaring the circle between the legitimate right of people to access books, and publishers’ need to get paid for them. Called Unglue.It, the crowd-funding vehicle allows individuals and institutions to pledge cash in small amounts, so titles can become part of the Creative Commons, where anyone can read them.
